The One Person Project is a program of The Friends of Kahama Society
To bring about real and lasting change in another community
Provide hopeful futures for children and families.
The One Person Project is a volunteer-driven organization committed to establishing an enduring connection with the community of Kahama, Tanzania. We focus on addressing the effects of poverty on women, children and youth. We work with the villagers, officials and organizations to advance education, promote health and to provide shelter and support for orphans. One Person also visits and provides support to the Muhanga region of Rwanda. We are currently raising funds to ship our fourth 40' shipping container to Kahama. Corporate sponsors can use the container for advertising in a high-traffic Penticton location. Contact us if you can help.
Over 99% of funds go directly to providing essential resources

There are 30 children in there now and we are hoping to get the interior finished to the stage where 20 more children and youth can find a safe-haven. Our first priority is metal safety doors.
Can you help us to raise the final $9,000 needed to finish the orphanage?
All is going well on the trip - check out facebook and blog for pictures.
Our 7th self-funded volunteer trip to Kahama: Just 3 people - the smallest group ever for the most demanding visit! Brenda Lowe and Peter Smythe will be enlisting the help of local volunteers to unload and distribute the contents of the 12 meter shipping container, a third of which is dedicated to the Muvuma Orphanage. Ron Ryde will be providing the training for a brick-making business made possible by the construction and donation of a brick-machine donated by himself and Lawrence Slind and Bill Lauritzen.

September 26th 2014 FLASH APPEAL
For Orphanage Construction.
Click the Donate Button above
We urgently need to raise $5,000 to dig out and install septic tanks before the monsoons arrive in the next week or so! If we can reach our goal we won't have to delay construction and the children can move into their new home before Christmas! This sum will also purchase and install half of the planned toilets and sinks. The next Flash Appeal Goal is $1,000 for external and bathroom doors. The Flash Appeal grand total of $10,000 will make the building habitable and purchase beds and other essentials to make the children totally comfortable.
Once we achieve the $10,000 Flash Appeal Goal we will be three-quarters of the way to finishing the Muvuma Orphanage! Click the Donate Button to transform lives and receive photographs and stories of the orphans you are supporting.
