Grad 2011 Why not have your school raise funds to ship a container to Africa?
Essential items heading to Rwanda!
A huge number of Okanagan individuals, families and schools donated books, which One Person volunteers sorted, packed and weighed. Including 2200 children's books donated by local author Marlene Armson.
8677 library books!  Children, youth and general
6,522 educational books for the local schools, including a large number for Higher Education. Plus 20 large boxes of school and teaching supplies.
270 Medical books
200 children's books for children of female prisoners.
250 children's books for a refugee camp.
55 children's books for the clinic.
50 books for World Vision in Rwanda.
The shipping container is also carrying:
Medical Equipment and Supplies. Thanks to organizations across BC (The Penticton Gleaners and People Loving People for example) who collected and donated items from the community and B.C. hospitals, this list is extremely long, so this is just a sample of the much-needed items heading to the Mahunga Clinic. Some of these items will be transported to the Kahama Hospital in Tanzania.

7 hospital beds, an operating table, an operating chair, microscopes, hospital bedding and towels, 9 wheel chairs, walkers, canes and crutches, nebulizer kits and resuscitator masks, suction equipment, blood pressure machines and cuffs, operating room masks, gowns, gloves and shoe covers, draping material, suture material, patient ID wrist bands, instrument tables, cleanser, stethoscopes, sterile water, test tubes, dressings, glucometer kits and cases, an otoscope (instrument for examining ears, eyes and throat)  infant formula, diapers, two large boxes of safe birth kits donated by  Summerland Middle School student, Madeleine Hamilton, and numerous boxes of miscellaneous  items.
Paediatric Ward - 20 boxes of blankets, sheets, toys, diapers and misc. items.
Care and Therapy Clinics (AIDS) - children's books, games, TV/VCR, remote, 19 children's tapes, TV & DVD Player and DVD's, 150 backpacks donated by Wal-Mart, Penticton.
Sports equipment - 2197 soccer jerseys, 160 soccer balls, 50 pr cleats, 20 sports pants, 71 pr shorts, 53 skirts, 128 pairs of socks, 9 pairs of shin guards, 15 pairs of pro running shoes, 54 hats, netballs, skipping ropes, Frisbees and misc. items.
Faraja Orphanage in Kahama, Tanzania - 9 extra-large boxes of books, toys, clothing and misc. items donated by the children of the Summerland Montessori. 150 backpacks donated by Wal-Mart, Penticton.
7 Sewing Machines, sewing supplies and 4 large boxes of fabric for Muhanga Organizations.
Miscellaneous - 36 boxes of shoes and clothing, 80 backpacks donated by Wal-Mart, Penticton, large water containers, cloth bags, tools and garden tools etc.
